Top Headphones For PC Gaming- 11 Super Picks For Game Lovers

You can find great budget headphones, but it’s always worth taking a moment to see what’s out there.

You might not own just a cheaper headset but the best headphone for your budget.

Therefore, this list of 11 best gaming headphones is for you. In this list, you’ll find a selection of my favorite headphones.

I also do extensive research & study and publish buying guides to give you the knowledge you need before you buy.

Given the large number of different types of headphones available, it’s no surprise for me and you as well, to pick the best headphones for PC gaming.

My recommendations are based on performance and price range coupled with other features.

The Bose QuietComfort 45 Wireless Headphones come at number one position and are definitely the pair to buy if you’re looking for overall great performance.

But then the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 PC gaming headphones followed by HyperX Cloud Alpha S do not lag behind.

They sound absolutely amazing, are incredibly comfortable, and feature very good noise cancellation for me.

Here is the detailed breakdown of the best headphones for PC gamers- top 11 headsets for gaming enthusiasts.

1. Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2

Best of overall

In our testing as personal usage, this gaming headset is designed for next-gen consoles that will finally take advantage of the stereophonic capabilities of the Sony PlayStation 5.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 PC gaming headphones are successful gaming headsets that delivered good audio and battery life at an affordable price.

The company definitely wants to do it the same way with its second-generation headset.

In my testing as personal usage, this gaming headset is designed for next-gen consoles that will finally take advantage of the stereophonic capabilities of the Sony PlayStation 5.

After using the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 for a few weeks, I am in a position to better communicate its strengths and weaknesses.

The Stealth 600 Gen 2 is made with all-plastic materials but has a sturdy hinge system that allows for decent tilts and turns.

I am impressed to see the headband has a cushion covered in synthetic leather and has a fair amount of tension.

At initial wearing, I felt it was a bit too tight. But, the headset feels very secure. This is especially important with wireless gaming headsets because wired headsets need you to stick in one place as compared to wireless headsets where you can move around a bit.

The headphones feature mesh-covered ear cushions with grooves on the underside to make wearing glasses more comfortable.

The ear cushions are fairly soft and not particularly difficult to seal properly. Mesh fabric isn’t as insulating as faux leather, but it manages heat well, making it perfect for long sessions.

For me, it wasn’t easy to test and game with the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2. But, I tested the headsets designed to work with PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

An Xbox version is also available for both Xbox One and the upcoming Xbox Series X. Simply plug the headset’s dongle into your platform of choice and start streaming stereo sound into your ears.

When the PlayStation 5 launches, the Stealth 600 Gen 2 will support the spatial audio standard built into the platform, while the PlayStation 4 will have to settle for stereo.

Pros
  • Affordable gaming headset
  • Excellent performance delivery of MIC
  • Great sound reproduction
  • Multi-platform compatibility is a forte
Cons
  • Doesn’t offer many features for PS4 and PS5
  • Noise isolation could be improved
  • I wish it had wired options

2. Beyerdynamic MMX 100 Gaming

editor’s choice

The MMX 100 isn’t the company’s first gaming headset. There are other gaming headphones too. The MMX 100 is a closed circumaural wired gaming headset for anything with a 3.5mm audio output.

Beyerdynamic gaming headphones are known for their well-designed and tuned headsets for PC gamers.

You can find these headphones almost anywhere in the world where audio mastering takes place. With the introduction of the Beyerdynamic MMX 100 Gaming headset, the company has a clear message to take gaming seriously.

The MMX 100 isn’t the company’s first gaming headset. There are other gaming headphones too. The MMX 100 is a closed circumaural wired gaming headset for anything with a 3.5mm audio output.

The Beyerdynamic MMX 100 offers a stable gaming experience. You can comfortably play hours of games without worrying about running out of battery with a wired connection.

However, I felt the single TRRS cable 1.2m is a bit short for non-console controllers. So if your PC has ports for both headphone and microphone audio, you may need to find a creative solution.

However, if your PC has separate ports for microphone and headset, you can use a 2-meter PC cable instead.

While playing online, I love the way the headset handled the audio demands of games like PlayStation 5’s Deathloop and Dirt 5.

One thing that disappointed me a bit is the lack of bass enhancement that doesn’t sound great. But, at the same time, the car engines, gunshots, and explosions don’t overshadow the game’s music too much.

Indeed, the Beyerdynamic MMX 100 is pretty lacking in bass compared to other gaming headsets.

By no means I’m saying they necessarily sound bad, but if you’re expecting the enhanced bass response of most consumer headphones, these headsets might not meet your expectations well.

For games, such a frequency response is fine for most genres. As I already pointed out above, the lack of bass boost means the battlefield noise isn’t too loud.

This means that picking up enemy footsteps in Valorant or Fortnite probably isn’t too difficult, even in intense firefights.

Pros
  • Very good MIC and audio performance
  • Comfortable to use for a longer session
  • Sturdy build and beautiful design
Cons
  • Bass quality is not exciting
  • Everyone won’t like the fiddly volume dial

3. Razer Barracuda X Wireless Gaming & Mobile Headset

value for money

The headset is neither too expensive too and offers a comfortable fit, solid construction, great sound quality, a great mic, and plenty of connectivity options with its USB-C transmitter.

When I held the Razer Barracuda X, it did really impress me as a great price of a wireless gaming headset.

The headset is neither too expensive too and offers a comfortable fit, solid construction, great sound quality, a great mic, and plenty of connectivity options with its USB-C transmitter.

The only thing I really missed with the cans is the Bluetooth connectivity. But these headsets nevertheless did win my heart to say the least.

The Bluetooth excellently tweaked. That means the cans now connect to the mobile phone, PC, Nintendo Switch, or any other Bluetooth enabled device without a transmitter.

And all this with the same performance, same price, and same design. With that in mind, it’s easy for me to pick a budget wireless gaming headset.

The bottom edge of the left earcup houses all of the headset’s ports and controls. These include a 3.5 mm port for the boom mic and an included AUX cable, a USB-C port for charging, and a power button, volume wheel, and microphone mute.

The Barracuda X is designed for use with PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 via 2.4GHz transmitter.

The Barracuda X shares the same boom mic as its predecessor, which impressed me. It used to sound great, and you can expect the same performance with this model.

I am also happy with the voice calls and streaming in a pinch, but if you’re serious content creator, it’s a good idea to get a dedicated USB mic.

It handles The Knife’s “Silent Shout” at maximum volume with no hint of distortion.

The opening pick on an acoustic guitar gives a great sense of string structure and resonance.

However, I missed a bit of clarity I enjoyed with the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless or other expensive headsets. But looking at the cost, the headphones sound pretty good.

Pros
  • Headsets offer multiple connectivity options
  • Outstanding audio performance delivery
  • Comfortable fit to wear for all day
  • They deliver clear and crisp MIC performance
Cons
  • I wish the headset would have come with a carry case
  • Bit of an inaccuracy in surround sound production

4. HyperX Cloud Alpha S - PC Gaming Headset

great sound

HyperX Cloud Alpha S is HyperX’s new, more feature-rich premium successor. In my experience, this headset is a solid addition to its kitty.

Affiliate Links/ Images from Amazon

I used quite a few gaming headsets. But HyperX Cloud Alpha S is one of the best gaming headsets out there.

For an affordable price, there’s basically no headset that can match it in terms of sound quality, comfort, and build quality.

HyperX Cloud Alpha S is HyperX’s new, more feature-rich premium successor. In my experience, this headset is a solid addition to its kitty.

I used the HyperX Cloud Alpha S for two weeks to find out. Right off the bat, it’s clear where the HyperX Cloud Alpha S came from.

From the shape to the materials, everything is pretty much the same or inspired by the headsets we know and love.

This gaming headset is made from the same materials as its predecessor, with a metal headband and hinges and thick plastic earbuds.

The ear cushions are made with the same soft foam and faux leather that I used to love. Overall, the HyperX Cloud Alpha S has a fairly solid gaming experience.

The surround sound feature worked well when playing games like Overwatch and Dauntless on PC.

I never felt discomfort using the cans even after hours of sessions, and I played almost the complete Final Fantasy VII.

When playing on PlayStation 4, I found the headsets handled the evocative orchestral score and chaotic battle sounds very well.

However, it is pretty annoying that the console experience was marred by the lack of PC-matching features.

The lack of surround sound on the console is a bit of a bummer, but the headset’s stereo performance is good enough that it’s not too much of an issue.

At least, it’s not the most noticeable issue with using headsets on consoles. There are many variables to consider in understanding how the HyperX Cloud Alpha S sounds.

Bass port configuration abruptly changes the low-end response. And closing the vents completely can have side effects.

It can degrade bass performance by up to 20dB or more in some locations. It didn’t sound very good to me.

Pros
  • Multi-platform functionalities is very good
  • Very sound delivery of both battlefield and music
  • Customizable bass output
Cons
  • Dramatic changes in the low-end response
  • In-line controls are missing for console gaming
  • Quality of Microphone isn’t as good as expected

5. Corsair HS65 SURROUND Gaming Headset

excellent mic

The simple looking beautiful headset, the Corsair HS65 Surround is really impressive in its entirety. A wired gaming headset that works on both PC and consoles.

Affiliate Links/ Images from Amazon

The Corsair HS65 Surround Gaming Headset offers a great soundscape and a comfortable fit. But noticeable, there are some useful features for PC gamers that console gamers don’t.

The simple looking beautiful headset, the Corsair HS65 Surround is really impressive in its entirety. A wired gaming headset that works on both PC and consoles.

The cans offer good look, good sounds, and fit well. The mic sounds clear, the volume controls are within reach, and it’s easy to connect to your preferred system.

The Corsair HS65 Surround looks like many other Corsair headsets, for better or worse. The headsets are available in black or white.

They come with a padded steel headband, oval ear cups, flexible boom mic, and knurled volume control.

The HS65 surround is instantly recognizable as a gaming headset, and it’s comfortably bright. The Corsair HS65 can be a little tight around your ears at first use. But it’s not uncomfortable at all.

Thanks to the soft memory foam earcups, I could wear the HS65 Surround for hours without any discomfort.

However, there are no notches with the steel headband, and moving the slider up and down is relatively easy.

In some ways, the Corsair HS65 offers more than I expected from a budget headset. The PC sounds great, the earcups are comfortable, and the mic is clear.

Frankly, I found it has limited compatibility, console performance is neither very consistent and I feel it could be improved.

And in my experience, it’s been a great option for everything from gaming to listening to music to streaming TV shows.

SoundID almost single-handedly turned the HS65 Surround from a good-sounding headset to a great-sounding headset.

Pros
  • There is no lag in audio delivery
  • Comfortable fit for wearing
  • Good delivery from Microphone
  • Easy to move headband slider up and down
Cons
  • Very fast battery consumption with RGB light
  • Could have had a little tighter grip
  • App dependent battery meter and surround sound

6. Corsair Void RGB Elite USB Premium Gaming Headset

sturdy build

The Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless Gaming Headset has a fairly heavy metal frame, soft fabric cushions on the earcups, and an adjustable strap that’s comfortable for wide heads.

Affiliate Links/ Images from Amazon

If you are looking for the most sophisticated gaming headsets in this guide, pick the Corsair Void RGB Elite Gaming Headset.

This is a new entrant into the highly crowded budget gaming headset market. This market segment has some outstanding products and a huge range of very affordable products.

The Void RGB Elite Wireless adds 7.1 surround to the mix while giving you the features it lives up to wireless audio and colored LED lights.

The Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless Gaming Headset has a fairly heavy metal frame, soft fabric cushions on the earcups, and an adjustable strap that’s comfortable for wide heads.

Everything about its design feels solidly constructed. However, from the moment I put it on, it felt like the thread was hanging down.

When I made the slightest sharp turn of my head, I felt like I was about to hit my desk. I felt a little nervous the whole time I used the headset.

It also affected my ability to maintain a consistent seal. This isn’t great for isolation. This is bit of an annoying characteristic to me.

But then this is a gaming headset, so even with that much movement, it doesn’t move very much. Despite the iCUE app’s obnoxious integration, the Corsair Void Gaming with the RGB Elite Wireless is generally a pretty positive experience.

Surround sound is available on PC, and games like Overwatch and Fortnite work like a charm.

The headsets sound great when played on PlayStation 4 games like Dauntless and The Outer Worlds. However, the USB dongle is actually too big to fit on the front of the PS4 Pro.

That means it should plug right next to the exhaust port on the back of the console. No matter how much heat it blows, it’s not uncomfortable.

All in all, the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless offers good sound for a gaming headset. I could notice the de-emphasis in the bass range below 100 Hz. And the midrange is slightly over-emphasized.

Otherwise, this is a fairly standard frequency response for a gaming headset, with a slight roll-off of the same characteristics at the high end found in many in the same price range.

Pros
  • Soft fabric cushions on the earcups
  • Lag-free audio delivery via RF
  • Good performance delivery by MIC
  • Very sophisticated look
Cons
  • Doesn’t offer a very good grip
  • Only app displays surround sound and the battery meter
  • Average battery life

7. Razer BlackShark V2 Gaming Headset

very comfortable

The virtual surround sound standards are as game-dependent as headphones. But multiplayer games like Valorant, Overwatch, and the recently remastered Halo 3 all sound great on BlackShark V2.

Affiliate Links/ Images from Amazon

Hey, gamers!

Looking for something comfortable to use on any platform? Give a few seconds and pay attention to the Razer BlackShark V2.

If you are working from home, you will also enjoy this for its convenience and decent mic.

From the start, it’s clear that the Razer BlackShark V2 is a gaming headset. From boom mics to special volume controls to neon green accents.

That said, there’s a level of aesthetic constraint here that other Razer gaming headsets lack. The Razer BlackShark V2 is basically made up of metal.

The headband is covered in soft foam cushions wrapped in mesh. The wireframe hinge doesn’t feel particularly sturdy, but I haven’t run into any issues when I was using the headset.

Lovely, gaming for hours on the Razer BlackShark V2 is easily possible. This is a very light and comfortable gaming headset paired with mesh ear pads.

I never encountered stress or heat issues even after hours of use. Headsets are compatible in some way with almost every gaming platform I tried.

Just ditch the USB sound card and connect via 3.5mm to your PlayStation 4 or 5, Nintendo Switch or Xbox One.

On PC, the Razer BlackShark V2 can access  THX Spatial Audio via Razer Synapse. Surround sound won’t really improve you in any game. But it works pretty well here.

I could feel the virtual surround sound standards are as game-dependent as headphones. But multiplayer games like Valorant, Overwatch, and the recently remastered Halo 3 all sound great on BlackShark V2.

In all of these games, finding directional cues like footsteps and gunshots was easy. And I never did feel like I didn’t have at least a vague sense of where the sounds were coming from.

The sound is pretty good for a gaming headset, but it’s still outside the ideal consumer bar.

In contrast to the usual audio signature of gaming headsets, the BlackShark V2 underestimates bass, unlike much of Razer’s own features.

Pros
  • Very good sound delivery
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Isolation is fairly good
  • Easy microphone settings
Cons
  • Control functions are not impressive
  • Average MIC performance
  • Very traditional Synapse app
  • USB sound card lacks compatibility with XboxOne, Xbox Series X

8. Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum

great performer

The gaming headset offers very low latency, great mics, great sound quality, and plenty of customization and connectivity options. It’s comfortable, fairly sturdy headphone, and comes with both regular and RCA cords.

Affiliate Links/ Images from Amazon

Gaming enthusiasts love all round performer. This is where the Logitech G933 has everything you need to make great gaming headphones.

The gaming headset offers very low latency, great mics, great sound quality, and plenty of customization and connectivity options.

It’s comfortable, fairly sturdy headphone, and comes with both regular and RCA cords, so it works with phones, console controllers, and home theatre setups.

I am not surprised to see that, unlike other gaming headsets, these headsets aren’t the most versatile outdoor headphones.

When switched off and folded, the G933 looks like a striking, futuristic over-ear headphone. The earcups and headband are all made up of plastic material.

The foam padding under the ears and headband are covered in cloth. The earpads are roughly rectangular, with the back of the earcups shaped like a bumpy pentagon that create a strong sci-fi look.

The G933 supports 7.1 channels of Dolby and DTS surround sound, and channels can be customized via the Logitech G app when the headset is connected to a PC.

But then these options are available only when connected to a gaming system. Audio mixing can produce very compelling effects.

But, I could clearly feel the G933’s surround sound and that of gaming headsets can’t be mistaken for a full 7.1 channel speaker system.

Without space for sound to bounce around to create the right acoustics, the various channels can at best create a general sense of direction.

Suitable for games. The G933 has low latency, great mic and sound quality, and great customization options.

It works wirelessly with  PS4 and PC, allowing you to use your regular audio cable with your Xbox controller or phone.

The Logitech G933 gaming headphones have long range, long battery life and comfortable design.

They also have programmable buttons and great software support, but they aren’t the most versatile gaming headphones for outdoor use.

Pros
  • Quality sound delivery
  • Can offer great customization options
  • Solid, comfortable, long-lasting design
  • Programmable buttons
Cons
  • Surround sound seems sub-par
  • Inconsistent bass delivery
  • Doesn’t offer very good isolation

9. SteelSeries Arctis 3 Console- Stereo Wired Gaming Headset

Adventure gaming

The SteelSeries Arctis 3 headset is very similar to other of Arctis headphones I’ve tested so far. Coming to the design the SteelSeries Arctis 3 headphones are almost identical to the  Arctis 5 2019 Edition.

Affiliate Links/ Images from Amazon

If you are looking for the perfect headset for gaming and music, here is the one that I picked. The Arctis 3.

This is the perfect headset for both gaming and music and provides high-quality sound and comfort. The SteelSeries Arctis 3 wireless are great Bluetooth-compatible gaming headphones.

This means you can stream music from your phone while using headphones connected to your console.

The mic quality is pretty impressive. That sounds clear and full-bodied which is great for online gaming.

The SteelSeries Arctis 3 headset is very similar to other of Arctis headphones I’ve tested so far. Coming to the design the SteelSeries Arctis 3 headphones are almost identical to the  Arctis 5 2019 Edition.

I am a little disappointed with the noise isolation capability of these ear cans. But they are very versatile and compatible with almost any gaming platform.

The gaming headsets also have a very impressive 42 hours of battery life. Unlike the two more expensive variants, the Arctis 3 doesn’t have a USB port.

So, I thought it wouldn’t offer software options, but I was wrong!

When you register the headset on the SteelSeries website and link it to your account, you can actually access equalization and surround sound profiles via the 3.5mm audio jack and can be fine-tuned to your liking.

The only problem is that you have to jump through a lot of hoops to do it. A gaming headset isn’t worth much if it doesn’t work in-game.

But the Arctis 3 is one of the better-sounding headsets available in your budget.

I’ve tried these headsets with Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Final Fantasy XIV on  PC, and a few titles on mobile and PS4.

The headset performed well across the board and wasn’t biased toward any particular genre.

For console and mobile games,  Arctis 3 provides sound in a given soundscape. The voice acting, sound effects, and music are all pretty well balanced

These ear cans are perfect for the adventure of your choice, whether it’s saving a kingdom in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius on Android or exploring strange new worlds in Star Trek Online on PS4.

These gaming headphones greatly impressed me.

Pros
  • Quality sound delivery
  • Can offer great customization options
  • Solid, comfortable, long-lasting design
  • Programmable buttons
Cons
  • Surround sound seems sub-par
  • Inconsistent bass delivery
  • Doesn’t offer very good isolation

10. Razer Kraken Ultimate RGB USB Gaming Headset

Best for telecommuter

I am happy to use the Razer Kraken Ultimate because it’s a comfortable, durable and full-featured PC gaming headset.

The Kraken Ultimate doesn’t look very different from a typical Razer gaming headset. It features large, rounded earcups.

The entire headset is black, with black plastic on the earcups, black anodized metal on the struts and headband, and black faux leather and fabric on the headband and earpad pads.

You’ll only see a little bit of color  when you plug it in. The Razer logo on the back of each earcup lights up, and multiple colorful lighting effects can be programmed via Razer Synapse software.

PC gamers who want a full-featured gaming headset can sync it up with their LED-equipped gaming setup.

The Razer Kraken Ultimate headset delivers very well on this space as well.

The Razer Synapse software had its issues, but the Kraken Ultimate provided a consistently solid gaming experience.

Playing games like Dauntless, Doom Eternal, and Overwatch, I had no trouble with the headset.

The combination of ear cushion fabric and cooling gel makes the headset easy to put on during long gaming sessions.

These are fairly lightweight headsets, so even after long hours of use, the strain is minimal. The Razer Kraken Ultimate are decent wired gaming headphones with customizable RGB lighting.

A retractable boom mic delivers overall performance suitable for home gaming, and cooling gel earcups keep you comfortable during hours-long gaming sessions.

Thanks to Kraken that it has integrated software, it has graphic EQ and presets, as well as adjustable surround sound features.

But, frankly speaking I didn’t test them as of now. However, it has a non-detachable USB cable instead of a TRRS cable.

You can only use these headphones with devices that also have a USB-A port, which limits their versatility. It’s also compatible with the Xbox One.

Pros
  • Very good audio reproduction
  • Good microphone performance
  • Good sound quality
  • Bluetooth compatibility across platforms
Cons
  • Customization is not easy via software
  • Looks a little bulky and cheap with plastic build
  • Inconsistent delivery of bass and treble
  • Music doesn’t sound very great on other than PC

11. Cougar Immersa Ti Gaming Headset

The earcups are solid and sturdy and won’t crack from an accidental drop. Headbands are flexible and very durable, but they have many moving parts and can wear out with repeated use.

The Cougar Immersa Gaming Headset is very comfortable with a great mic. However, the booming sound profile of these headphones may not be ideal for all listeners.

They also have a retractable mic and a regular audio jack, but they’re not the best headphones for outdoor use.

I am a little annoyed that these gaming headphones are not portable, don’t block out much noise, and are loud and leak a little.

That is being said, I still feel the Cougar Immersa is a well-made, affordable product with a reasonable sound for affordable price.

I think, this headset is great value for money because you need not shell out unnecessary a few extra bucks for costly headphone.

It doesn’t necessarily excel at anything, but it does most things well. The Cougar Immersa Gaming headset is well made, but the headband design has a lot of moving parts.

The earcups are solid and sturdy and won’t crack from an accidental drop. Headbands are flexible and very durable, but they have many moving parts and can wear out with repeated use.

On the other hand, the materials used for build quality are much more premium than the price would suggest.

The isolation performance of the Cougar Immersa Gaming Headset is poor. These headsets do not have active noise cancellation and do not isolate below 1kHz.

In addition, it achieves 25 dB of isolation, which is decent. The concept of self-adjusting headbands is great when done right.

This keeps the band flexible and eliminates the need for vertical adjustment of the earcups. The horizontal axis is taken over by a simple joint attached to the auricular suspension.

This closed system large can fits any ear size and is large enough to create a tight seal.

While this is good for blocking out the outside environment, it has a negative effect on comfort. It creates its own microclimate within the sealed audio chamber.

That becomes damp and sticky over a time. Luckily, the two ear cushions can be removed with a slight twist, and are extremely easy to clean.

Pros
  • Good delivery of sound and MIC from the price point
  • Very affordable gaming headsets with reasonable performance
  • Earpads are large, comfortable and provide good seal
  • Extremely low latency, perfect for online gaming
Cons
  • Plastic material build looks cheap
  • Look bulkier than usual cans
  • Poor performance in terms of noise isolation and sound leakage
  • Inconsistent delivery of bass sound
