Of course, production and mixing headphones need to sound great, but simply sounding great is not good enough to serve the purpose.

This might just be the beginning of great studio headphones. Our experts also recommend a flat frequency response curve is required to ensure accurate monitoring of critical listening sessions.

You need comfortable headphones as audio professionals, artists, sound engineers, and producers because you spend long hours in the studio. This makes a world of difference for you.

We recommend your ideal headphone should have production-friendly ohms with studio noise isolation.

In practice, closed-back headphones with low noise leakage are the best options when working in a noisy environment.

And, the best headphones for production should have great wearing comfort and ergonomic design.

If you’re a study junky or recording artist heading into the studio to mix or produce, consider headphones made for professionals.

Also, there must be a seamless audio transmission with the headphones. The right headphones can accurately reproduce the sound of your mix or track.

On the other hand, there are headphones that are used regularly that might not have a very even and smooth frequency response and can sound more powerful with boosted highs or lows.

If you bought a new audio interface, sampler, mixer, or other audio equipment, you may like to consider new studio headphones.

While normal listening headphones rarely have XLR cable connectors and are less than ideal, good production and mixing headphones ensure accurate sound when mixing and adjusting audio levels.

Read on to know more about the best headphones for music production and how to choose the best headphones for all your audio needs.

Whether you’re a music producer, music arranger, or recording artist working on new music, there are a few headphones that really make a significant difference. For example, rugged headphones.

On the other hand, cheap earphones can distort audio levels with digital acoustic processing. So, it’s not just a pair of cans suitable for musicians, composers, and producers of electronic music.

You may need your new studio headphones to listen to the mix and make sure they deliver the right sound.

You might even consider a new set of headphones if you’ve upgraded to a new mixer or audio interface.

Open-back designs like the ATH-R70x are generally preferred for long mixing sessions as they are lighter and less tiring than closed cans.

Are you sure there are the best studio headphones for mixing?

We don’t have much doubt about that. They are definitely there. At the given price point and above, we’ve gone with models with more noticeable air.

But we don’t see this as a flaw. On the other side, we are very impressed with the response. This is smooth with all the extension needed without the slightest hint of boom or fake fatness.

Moving up, the low-mids aren’t wrinkled, and there’s no cheesy scooping, a tuning often used to mask uneven response.

Therefore, we can really hear what’s going on, for better or worse. We’re all big on mids and lows, but with the R70x, all the juice comes through without complication.

Everything appears clear and unadulterated unless the source says otherwise. It’s a high impedance model.

Thus, a very suitable headphone amp should be connected for best results.

They are equipped with neodymium rare earth magnets and have long coiled cords that stretch nearly 10 feet.

As a music enthusiast and production lover, you can adapt from 1/8″ TRS to 1/4″ TRS with a  gold-plated thread adapter.

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm headphones for music production are built with premium materials.

Every concept of design is intended to offer comfort to the ultimate users. We explicitly love this effort of the makers of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm.

The DT 770 Pro over-ear headphones also have impulse characteristics similar to high-end electrostatic headphones.

These headphones have a high impedance of 250Ω and need to be amplified. However, on the downside bass and midrange are very flat overall with deep bass reaching down to 5 Hz.

The treble response didn’t impress us either. This is somewhat erratic, peaking around 9kHz and roll-off around 3.4kHz.

We found these ear cans a little bulkier and less suitable for mobility and portability.

The Sennheiser HD 650 headphones also come with a 2-year warranty. The Bass response is very good overall, though it lacks a bit of sub-bass, which can be noticeable on tracks with high bass presence.

We are a little disappointed because the midrange response failed to impress at the price point. And the low-mids and highs are nearly flat as well.

The high frequencies start to drop off a bit around 5kHz. This mostly affects vocals and drum overheads.
